Welcome to the site formerly known as mickisteele.net. In addition to gaining a hyphen while moving to WordPress, it has a new layout and  other changes. Its aims however, remain the same: to pay tribute, and to document the wide-ranging musical career of Micki Steele, as musician, singer, and songwriter. It contains technical information on her songs, the memories of those who worked with her, listings of her live performances, and other materials when available. It includes both her best-known work and projects which are less known but deserve wider notice.

While I aim to be as comprehensive as currently possible, this site remains a work in progress. To this end, I also welcome the contributions of those with corrections, or information and memories of their own to share. I would especially like to thank LCipher for his role in creating the site and editing it for several years, it would not exist without his efforts. I hope the site provides a place for those seeking to learn more about Michael’s work, or for those who she has  inspired. This is strictly an unofficial site, and neither I nor the site’s other contributors have contact with Michael herself. -RIShane, February 2015.

  1. Both The Bangles as Crowded House, Stray Cats and The Housemartins are the bands that made the 80’s prove me much more bearable, in fact thanks to them I found ultimately endearing, not to mention the contribution occurs later the girls, their album “Doll Revolution “. As far as I’m concerned standing ovation for Micki Steele.

  2. Thanks for the link. I am a fan. Would like to see where she is performing, or if she is planning anything. I would like to see some updated pictures of her . Like 2015
    Darrell Sallee

  3. Thanks for coming back… I am a big fun of Michael and I hope to see new pictures of her in 2015.

    Bueno… Muchas gracias…!

  4. Welcome back ! You informed me that activity before Bangles and works of Michael and various things in this HP. Thanks Shane.

  5. Thank you for this website!! I really enjoyed reading all of the interviews from people who knew Michael. I am as smitten by her as most of the people who knew her.

  6. This looks really cool. Thanks for your dedication to one of the greatest performers and group of all time. We should all make it a mission to get the Bangles in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

  7. Good you see this place back – especially the tabs section. The first song of hers I taught myself is ‘Song For A Good Son’ and I haven’t looked back. I still find ‘Following’ impenetrable, though, heh.

There are few places online for Micki fans; thanks for taking the time to put this site together.

  8. Thanks for starting this website. I’ve been a Michael fan ever since I heard the cover of “September Gurls.” Hopefully a solo album will come out some day.

  9. It’s really nice to see all these pictures ,a very lovely, and very talented musician.Vielen dank, mein Freund, and God bless you.

  10. Three months ago I decided to check out Bangles on Youtube. I had heard a few songs I remembered vaguely that I liked but I did not know anything about them. I soon realized they are not just singers but a real band, and a really good one. A few videos later I was totally struck by that bass player, she is not just good she is awesome! And I liked her singing the most too. Since then I have checked out every video on the tube from Runaways to Crash wisdom and bought all the records. I have been a die-hard Springsteen fan since the eighties (maybe that’s why I missed Bangles then) but I haven’t even bought the new River Box yet which says it all. Thanks for this page.

  11. Happy Birthday to my biggest inspiration Micki steele On this special day, i wish you all the very best, all the joy you can ever have and i always hope you still health, may you be blessed abundantly today, tomorrow and the days to come! May you have a fantastic birthday and many more to come…You are My Idol.HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!

  12. To me Steele has always been the heart and soul of
The Bangles. When I saw them playing I was mesmerized by her playing, her singing, and (girl crush) her totally hot looks! If I could I’d travel back in time and beg her for at least one more album.

  13. Hi,
This is the best website about Michael Steele! Thank you for doing this work! She is a great musician, bassist, singer and composer. I have also heard and experienced her in many interviews. She is not only a fantastic artist, but also a smart, funny and honest person. And i am shure, she has a “good” heart.
    I adore her !!!

  14. Micki is one of the great standouts of the decade.. Like fellow gal bassists Sara Lee (gang of four, indigo girls) & Tina Weymouth (Talking Heads), Micki always seems to play her instrument w/ ease, style, and a sophistication all her own..
Glad to have discovered this fan-site. I couldn’t agree more — may the Bangles reign forever

  15. I remember watching the bangles on MTV in 80s. wish I had a time machine & a new car. just a beautiful lady with a rockin voice.
